Lijiang-Shangri-La railway opened for operation

On November 26, China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group, a subsidiary of CREC, was responsible for the survey and design of the whole line. The Lijiang-Shangri-La Railway in Yunnan Province, which was built by China Railway No.2 Group, China Railway No.8 Engineering Group, China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, and China Railway Tunnel Group, was completed and opened to traffic. The fastest time between the two places is 1 hour and 18 minutes. Kunming can reach Shangri-La directly through Dali and Lijiang. Since then, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture has ended the history of no access to railways. On the morning of the same day, the opening ceremony was solemnly held at Shangri-La Railway Station.

Lijiang-Shangri-La Railway is an integral part of Yunnan-Tibet Railway in China's medium and long-term railway network planning, with a total length of 139.7 kilometers and a design speed of 140 kilometers per hour. The project started in December 2014 and took nine years to complete and open to traffic. Lijiang-Shangri-La Railway starts from Lijiang Station, Yulong Naxi Autonomous County, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province. It connects to Shangri-La Station, Shangri-La City, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is a national Class I single-track electrified railway. There are 13 stations along the whole line, including Lijiang, Lashihai, Daluo, Xinshang, Hutiaoxia, Luosiwan, Huajiaopo, Wanlamu, Tangbu, Xiaozhongdian, Luji, Judugu and Shangri-La stations, of which Lijiang Station is an existing station and the rest are new stations. Lijiang Station, Lashihai Station, and Shangri-La Station operate passenger service, Xiaozhongdian Station uses passenger and freight service, and the rest are railway traffic technical operation stations.
