  The Shantou Bay Bridge, located in the waters near Mayu Island at the east entrance of Shantou Port, is a cross-sea highway bridge. It is known as China’s first prestressed concrete suspension bridge.

  It is the first large prestressed concrete suspension bridge in China, which is located at the maritime space of Mayu Island in the east Shantou Port. It is a cross-sea highway bridge that crosses Queshi Sea with a total length of 2500m and main span of 452m. The clear height of the main span for navigation is 46m and net width of the bridge is 23.8m, which allows ships at 50,000 tons to go through. The diameter of main cable is 55cm. The strengthened girder is prestressed concrete box structure, which has double-way prestressed wall. The wall is as wide as 26.25m with a length of 5.7m and a height of 2.2m, each section of which is 170 tons. This bridge is rewarded the Golden Prize of National Quality Engineering Award, Second Prize of National Awards for Progress in Science and Technology and the Luban Prize for Construction Project.
